Look at the Fireworks...

... Light up the night sky

The title is from In the Heights, the song is Blackout.
4th of July, gotta have a picture of fireworks. Now this just makes me want to go out and shoot a bigger show...

Empty Can

Its really hard, in the bright, brilliant sunshine we have here now, to find some dark, dingy subjects. But there is always something dark and dingy in the garage.

Song: The Bed - Hair (Broadway Cast Recording)

Did Someone Say Purple?

This is defiantly purple. My mom loves these flowers. Note to self for Mother's Day
Also note: My mom hates this song.

Song: Helter Skelter - Dana Fuchs (Across the Universe soundtrack)

Clevage

What could this possible be? Hint: Its not B&W, and its a macro shot.

Song: My Evil Plan To Save The World - Five Iron Frenzy

Orange Johnny

My mom says this is a Johnny Jumpup. Hence the title. She likes this picture :-)

Isn't that a gnarley piece of wood.

Song: Iris - Goo Goo Dolls

Press F1 to Continue...

I think my new thing is to take pictures of computers when the fail. Like when the stupid annoying TV screens on the gas pumps don't work, because there isn't a keyboard plugged in.
Good job, team.

Song: We Come Out at Night - Avenged Sevenfold

Back on track

Its been more than a month since I posted (this is obviosuly backdated).
Honestly, I've been really busy with school, but thats almost over so we will see how this goes.

My mom made me take a picture of my brick at my old HS. There it is. I'm a nerd.

Song: Suicide is Painless - MASH theme

Please Don't Touch Me

Its not Musical March, but I can still name stuff after songs. Ha.

I have also decided that since I've been bad enough on updates, I should not worry about the gaps in this blog. Life happens.

Song: Please Don't Touch Me - Young Frankenstein (Original Broadway Cast)

Literal, yes?

I haven't decided if I like this picture better in landscape or portrait...

Song: Around the Word - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Spring Bloom

Flowers. The things you take pictures of because nothing else in your house is pretty.
It was a nice day though. Nice days make flowers look nice.

Song: Why Bother - Weezer

Homemade Studios...

... have the potential of being really ghetto.
Camera - Check
Tripod - Check
Backdrop Support - Check
Backdrop - Check
Lights and Lighting support system - Ummmm.... yeah....

Apparently the lamp from my bedroom (with a 60W CFL) is way brighter than both of those flashes on the ground.

I really need to not be broke, and buy some real lights. A tripod head that can flip sideways would be cool too.

Song: Glass Onion - The Beatles

Daylight Savings Time

Sorry about the framing. I was kind of going 80mph when this was taken.
Probably shouldn't admit to that, but oh well.

Because of DST, I now get a pretty sunset on my weekly Wednesday drive to Anaheim.

Song: Suck my Kiss - Red Hot Chili Peppers

The Failure of Marriage

Obviously this was done quickly, while at a stop light, and not really thinking about composition.

But for reals. Do we really need to advertise divorce lawyers on the back of our cars now?!

You know theres something wrong with the country when places of advertisement usually reserved for work-from-home handymen, or pyramid schemes is now for divorce services.
(On that note, if you are interested in Monavie, I know someone who can hook ya up.)

Song: I Hate Myself For Loving You - Joan Jett and the Heartbreakers

Almost Burning Man

+1 to screwing around with stuff on my desk.

I want to go to the real Burning Man. I don't think I could handle it now though.

Song: Spirit in the Sky - Norman Greenbaum

Crappy picture. It looked much better on the LCD screen.
That is John Wayne airport, for the record.

April Fools!

I suck at pratical jokes (especially 4 days later... shhhh...)

This is a picture I took in elementry school for this art contest thing. Its currently on the wall behind the door in my room. No joke. 8x10 matted (as you can tell with the wrinkles)

If you didn't know... its the Space Needle... in Seattle...

Song: Sugar Never Tasted So Good - The White Stripes

Song: Schools Out for Summer - Alice Cooper

Come As You Are

Yeah really what kind of title does this pictures warrant? I suppose Come As You Are can refer to Ellis Island... so there.

Everyone likes a surprise!

This is what happens when I decide to get off at a random subway station. We get in the middle of a pillow fight.

[NYC - Union Square]

Song: Surprise - Young Frankenstein (OBC)

American Pie

I don't listen to country music, so finding a song title that steams with patriotism is kind of hard to find.

But you gotta love the Statue of Liberty.
[NYC]

Song: American Pie - Don McLean

Outside the Wall

Not that wall. This is (one of the) wall of the UN.

Pretty cool lookin', I must say.

[NYC - UN]

Song: Outside the Wall - Pink Floyd

Thursday, March 20, 2008

I Want You

Probably the most famous - and random - recruiting station. In the middle of Times Square.
Why? Its New York.

There is a poster of Uncle Sam on the other side. Just so the title fits.

[New York - Times Square]

Song: I Want You - The Beatles

Birthday

Yep. Points for creativity here.

That was a damn good ice cream cookie thing though.

Song: Birthday - The Beatles

I Believe

March 18, 2008. I finally get to see Spring Awakening.

(I will admit that this picture was taken after said date. And obviously I didn't personally take this one)

Song: I Believe - Spring Awakening

Ireland

This picture was supposed to be ones that I took on this actual day. But I guess they got deleted... and that makes me mad.
So, you get a holiday-appropriate one instead (though this was taken later).

Anyway. The UN gift shop has a little shelf for each country (or most of them) represented.
This is the Ireland shelf. Really. Crappy shamrock hats. Classy!

I should have checked if they were Made in China...

[NYC - UN]

Song: Ireland - Legally Blonde: The Musical

Golden Slumbers

OK this was my favorite shot from the shoot that I mentioned. My favorite because a) its pretty, and b) I didn't really do anything to enhance it. A very slight contrast adjustment, but really I didn't need to. No color, no harsh contrast, no overexposure. Yay.

Song: Golden Slumbers - The Beatles

I'm Not That Girl

Snapshot time. From my car. In the Saddleback (SM) parking lot. An awesome license plate!!!
I mean, I have one too, but its especially awesome to see other awesome license plates.

Song: I'm Not That Girl - Wicked Soundtrack

Walking on the Sun

Doesn't the water look like ice?
I really like the color in this one. Well, the bright part anyway, with the reflection off the clouds. On the big version you can see some lines radiating outward... cool!
Not my favorite from this shoot though...

Song: Walking on the Sun - Smashmouth

We Will Rock You

Hahahha rocks. Yeah I'm really creative. Just watch, there are a lot of songs with Rock in the title.

Song: We Will Rock You - Queen

Cliffs of Dover (aka, Dana Point)

Yeah thats not Dover. But Dana Point starts with a D... and it is a cliff... and there isn't a song called Cliffs of Dana Point.

Song: Cliffs of Dover - Eric Johnson

All Alone

Music titles was a bad idea. This is hard.
Anyways, I am not actually all alone in this picture, but I was able to get all of the people (and the dogs with no leashes) out of the frame. Go me.

Song: All Alone - Gorillaz

The Islander

I took a bunch of sunset shots at the harbor (if you coulden't notice) and most of them are of The Point. But this one is intended to show off Catalina... which is an island. Yay title.

Song: The Islander - Nightwish

Drain You

This is me trying something new. Overexpose, and bring out a lot of noise, on a subject that is already gritty. I think I will call it "grunge". So of course I have to use a Nirvana song to name it.
Tell me what you think.

Song: Drain You - Nirvana

Painting

OK Musical March is a bad idea. Having problems thinking of names.
This is after sunset. And its not lined up right. That will be worked on.
But the colors are more gradual than a usual gradiant, so that makes it look like a painting, right?

Song: Painting - Blindside

Sunday, March 02, 2008

A Whole New World

Honestly, I coulden't think of a musical title for this right off. So its the song thats playing now. Yay.
Its actually not a new world at all... (the beach) but I guess it could be if your ship just landed there.

Song: A Whole New Word - Aladdin Soundtrack

Caps and Bottles

Oh college. When you don't have housing on campus, you just go party in the parking lot.

OK so in March, its going to be Musical March. No, not necesserly Broadway Musicals, but I mean all of the song titles are going to be from songs, mmkay? This should be fun. I mean, I list whatever song is playing while I'm editing the post anyways...

Song: Caps and Bottles - Dropkick Murphys

I wanted to have a Leap Day picture for today, but sadly it just didn't happen. So you get this... whatever it is...
